THE FUTURE OF AMERICAN CYCLING

Taylor Phinney is a savage, this young man is just flat out fast, he’s a track slayer, and will race the Tour someday, i asked him when he would go pro tour steez and he said a couple more years, no rush…just enjoying the ride! The only camera I had on me was my faithful BalckBerry….he took a few events last weekend at the Home Depot Ctr Nationals and he owns a world title for something, the Kilo maybe??….I dunno, all I know is Lance took him from Garmin’s U23 squad (from what I know, sorry Taylor I don’t know specifics), he now rides with and is the head powerhouse at the Trek Livestrong camp. I hit him up on FB and i’m sending him some fresh TLFI duds, he was a super cool guy….Keep slaying em Taylor!

Anyone who knows me knows I love Adidas, the sneakers, the sandals, now a dope fixie? I gotta keep my eyes out for this…

MY STOLEN BIKE

My shit got ripped off right out of the shop….when I was in the back office! Next person I catch stealing from me may never walk again much less ride a bike, this is MY personal ride so to say the least this is personal, these parts are VERY obvious, I’ll hook up a FREE “Pake” frameset or deep V wheelset for the person that finds my bike, or at least the front wheels, stem and seat….I’d be alright with that, bring it, who’s got the balls to step up?

“THE FASTEST MAN IN THE WORLD”

I was recently at the Home Depot center velodrome in Carson, CA (yes we do have it all in SOCAL) and I was VERY impressed and ready to ride, I’m in the process of finding a good deal on a rear disk before I get my project bike on the track, and the photos I promised on this site. They had some pictures on the wall, the typical Lance photos (Lance photos belong in anything that has to do with cycyling) and I think I saw some  Merckx, Cavendish, etc. all FAST. the guy running the place said the fastest anyone has ever gone was 70+ mph!!! that is F#@$%KING nuts! then I came across pictures of “Major Taylor, The fastest man in the world” from the early 1900’s.  Back in a time when a African Americans were treated like dirt, no one could catch this man, I don’t have all the info on him but Google him and find out for yourself…..this boy had some skills. Oh and did I mention these photos are from a French Magazine? Yes he was THAT good.

Here are some other phots of the track, if you haven’t been, go take the class so you learn how to not kill anyone (or yourself), and if you don’t have a legit track bike they will rent one to you for like $10 bucks.

LANCE’S AMAZING LIFE JOURNEY…..as it continues….we are watching history being made, We were told when we got there we just missed Lance by an hour, he was testing his new Time Trial positions, bummer.

UNIQUE BIKES; TRACK, TIME TRIAL AND WTF????

I saw this a few months ago or so, these bikes come from some great minds, some aero, some for travel, very futuristic, and some just….well take a look for your self.  The first bike should be the new beach cruiser in my opinion, beach cruisers remind me of 80’s station wagons and lifted trucks (super old vintage PEE WEE cruisers still have a little spot in the Freaks nest) I’d love to get on that ORYX on the track

IT’S ABOUT TIME… “FIXED MAGAZINE”

This is the cover of the second issue, I was a little leary of this, as I always am about this kind of stuff.  But once I scrolled through the 1st issue I was 100% sold.  Especailly after reading John Cardiels interview (I skated that park shown in AZ, that shit is BIG), if you don’t know who John Cardiel is then you’re lame, or you’ve never picked up a skateboard, which makes you…well you get the idea the photos are great, they added some chicks and cool ad’s from sread it, learn from it.ome great companies in my industry, an interview with Keith HUF…and “WALA!” you have Fixed Magazine, ask for it, read it, learn from it.

This is a new business of my friend Travis, “Pro bike Wheels” him and I met about 6 months ago, he actually sold me my first “legit” road bike. He is a super cool guy and knows his shit about wheels. I had a pair of some cheapie wheels I bought off him and put almost 1000 miles on them and they are still true (straight). So if you have a bag of tricks that beat up your wheels, or you just suck at riding and hit parked cars go see Travis, he’ll hook your wheels up proper.

PILEN CONCEPT BIKE

It’s been a  little while since I’ve been able to post so i figured I drop some cool shit.  My co-pilot on the road Danny emailed this to me last week. This bike is very interesting, not only the concept and looks of it, but the fact that it has some history is very cool. It is inspired by early LeMans style, the concept is supposed to give the riders the same feeling as if they were driving a sportscar. I’d like to give it a ride, bomb some hills and feel that (sports cars are another passion of mine), it doesn’t really say too much about the components but it looks like it has internal gears. This was developed for the Swedish bike brand Pilen Cykel in Malilla. They have some really cool concepts and bikes on this site.
